Operation Brotherhood 2017 video

“Operation Brotherhood is a time of blessing, not only for the families who receive our food baskets, but also for the volunteers who enjoy fellowship while sorting the donated goods and assembling the baskets.  One of our friends at the Korean United Church put together this video, and it’s a beautiful testimony to the fun and fellowship we have as brothers and sisters in Christ—even if we speak different languages and hail from different areas and walks of life!  Mark your calendars for next year, and come and join us!”

Operation Brotherhood 2014

Operation Brotherhood 2014 was outstanding. We reached 1,400 families through 27 churches and missions. We started with the Watch hereOrganizational Meeting, where the churches that were interested in being considered arrived at the Korean United Church of Philadelphia to receive information about the 2014 Operation Brotherhood program. We received a devotional from Rev. Cooper of the Community Church of God and the session was closed in prayer by Rev. DiBenedetto from the Geiger Memorial Brethren Church.

The Rally was held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Faith Tabernacle Church. After a warm welcome from Rev. Jesus Rodriguez and a beautiful prayer, Durwin Parks, president of SHM, brought greetings and shared our CRT program. He encouraged the churches to become involved with it, as it is a wonderful evangelistic outreach in their communities. Rev. Cooper, past president of SHM, explained the purpose of Operation Brotherhood, and Minister Leroy West graced us with a beautiful hymn. Elder Jaquelyn Pope from Genesis Christian Fellowship closed the service with prayer. The outside service included Reverends Cooper and Rodriquez, with a Spanish prayer by Rev. Carmelo Gonzales from Iglesia de Cristo Church. The Faith Tabernacle Youth Choir sang at the inside service as well as the outside service, and they were well-received by all. Everyone left the rally looking forward to all the excitement of Operation Brotherhood 2014.

Slip Night came and everyone was notified that they would get the number of turkeys and food baskets that they had requested. Thursday, November 20th came, and canned goods were brought to the Korean United Church by schools and churches. Potatoes and onions came from the Korean Grocery, fourteen hundred bags were donated to be made up for Packing Night, and the work of sorting cans and bagging potatoes and onions began.

On Friday evening, we had an outstanding service in the beautiful sanctuary of the Korean United Church. It was decorated with fresh flowers and fruit to signify the harvest. Pastor Timothy Cho, Senior Pastor of the Korean United Church of Philadelphia, welcomed everyone and gave the opening prayer. President Durwin Parks also brought greetings and introduced Minister Leroy West, who once again ministered to us in song. Rev. Cooper gave devotions and Rev. Jin Jan closed the meeting with prayer. Then, it was off to fill the bags. We sang, we greeted, we worked, we broke down boxes and we swept the floors…. And all 1,400 bags were packed in an hour and fifteen minutes! Saturday morning arrived and the church representatives came to pick up their baskets and their books of the Bible, which were contributed from the Philadelphia Bible Society.

On Tuesday morning, November 25, the truck arrived with all of the turkeys. Everyone received their turkeys and started delivering them to those families that we have been praying for these many months and will continue to pray for, that they would grow in the grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We thank all who have contributed to making Operation Brotherhood 2014 a great success! We also look forward to Operation Brotherhood 2015, which will kick-off with the Organizational Meeting on Thursday, September 10, 2015.
